About the Artist

Art has always been an important part of my life but I had no formal training until I took my first watercolor class in 1990.  I was immediately hooked but didn't have much time to paint as I was raising my family.  When my youngest went to college in 2007, I began to paint more seriously.  I enjoy working in every medium but have tended to focus mostly on one medium at a time through various periods of my life.  For many years that medium was watercolor, then silk painting and at the present time it is encaustic.  However, because each medium provides a specific look, I decide what I am going to paint and choose the medium I feel will represent that idea the best. Sometimes that will be watercolor or encaustic but other times it will be acrylic, oil, pastels, silk painting, printmaking or ceramics.

Using a variety of materials and techniques helps me keep my work fresh and innovative and is great for my motivation.

I hope you enjoy seeing my work as you look through my website.

Thank you,

Nancy
